It’s been weeks since any updates have percolated on Jared Leto’s possible casting as The Joker in DC’s Cinematic Universe. But now Leto has finally spoken out about the role. Sort of.

When MTV asked Leto if he could verify the Joker rumors, all he would offer was this: “There’s a film called Fight Club, my friend. And you know, the first rule about Fight Club is that you don’t talk about Fight Club. Enough said.”

Yeah…that doesn’t give us much. But! The Easter egg to this seemingly random reference, however, is that Leto did have a role in Fight Club as Angel Face.

The actor then said that after winning the Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club, he’s not in a major hurry to act again: “I’m not really in a hurry to jump into another film unless its absolutely something I can’t say no to.”

A simple “no” might have sufficed, but take Leto’s non-answer for what it’s worth. With filming on Suicide Squad reportedly starting next April, Warner Bros. should be making an official casting announcement sooner rather than later.

Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5th, 2016.
