Just out of the gate and things are already heading up for new comic Mayday from Black Mask Comics.
That’s because an entertainment group led by Heroes creator Tim Kring called Imperative wants to option the book and turn it into TV series. Mayday made its comic debut only yesterday. But I have to admit, the premise would make for a pretty kick ass TV series.
Written by Curt Pires with art by Chris Peterson, it tells the tale of a has been, drug addict screenwriter who stumbles upon a Satanic cult’s plan to unleash Armageddon on Earth. The only problem is, while fighting to stop Armageddon from coming about, our hero starts to wonder if he’s really a hero, or if the whole thing is a drug fueled psychotic break. Yeah, I agree with you. I think it sounds pretty freaking cool too.
Black Mask Comics, a new publisher with focus on developing comic properties with other media value, is off to the races with a title already being potentially developed by SyFy and another with Wes Craven’s name attached. Meanwhile Imperative Entertainment is busy at work on the forthcoming Heroes update Heroes Reborn. Mayday is currently being developed by writers, no word yet on when and what station the show will land.
