So, we know a good few things about the upcoming Disney+ Cassian Andor series so far but we have very excting news today.
We know that, obviously, the series is a prequel and not a sequel – ahem – and we know that Alan Tudyk will not be appearing (yet) as robotic sidekick K2S0 (here); we know that the great Stellan Skarsgård has joined the cast (here) and we know that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story ghosttwriter Henry Gilroy will have some writing and directing duties (here) but today we’ve learned that three familiar faces from Rogue One will be joining Cassian’s adventure.
Speaking of Stellan Skarsgård, the star, speaking on a Swedish radio station, revealed that he has filmed a scene with Forest Whittaker’s Star Wars character, Saw Guerra. Saw is a man whose life was destroyed when in the war leading up to the Empire’s creation that we first met in The Clone Wars animated series. When we met him in Rogue One he was a man destroyed by years of war who was so hellbent on destroying the Empire that even the Rebellion wouldn’t work with him. He recently popped up in new animated series The Bad Batch too. It’s intersting how vital to the story his character has become in the last few years and I can’t wait to see what he brings to the new series.
Now another report is telling us that Ben Mendelsohn will reprise his role as Orson Krennic, the weasely Imperial who helped create the Death Star but was ultimately betrayed by Grand Moff Tarkin. Krennic is a man who has locked horns not just with Tarkin but Darth Vader too and will do anything to serve his own greedy little needs… has me wondering if we’ll see Tarkin or Vader in the series?
It is possible that this series will not have interaction between Diego Luna’s Cassian and these two characters but rather will focus on Cassian and other elements going on in the universe – combining this with The Bad Batch and the other live-action shows on the horizon and we will have a lot of the Star Wars universe and back story fleshed out.
Also, a set video, below, posted on youtube reveals too that Duncan Pow is returning as Rebel Sergeant Ruescott Melshi series.
It seems that the Andor series is going to connect to Rogue One in many, many ways and it’s a chapter of the Star Wars story that we’re excited to see and, on top of that, a Star Wars spy story still sounds very exciting.
Let me know all your thoughts, guys.
