I honestly was thinking to myself earlier that it’s been a while since we heard anything about Riddick: Furiosa and Fast & Furious 11 and now, just like that, we have a big update on the Fast franchise.
Appearing at FuelFest last night, star Vin Diesel took to the stage to announce that the eleventh movie in the franchise (not counting Better Luck Tomorrow or Hobbs & Shaw) will be hitting cinemas in April 2017.
But he also dropped a few more details.
Fast & Furious update: Flashbacks, return to street racing, Paul Walker, spin-off TV series and more
Telling the crowd that he wanted the movie to do three things before it would happen, Diesel told the crowd that firstly, the movie had to come back to LA/Los Angeles, secondly, it had to return to its roots and feature street racing and car culture and thirdly it had to reunite Dominic Torretto and Brian O’Connor, the second lead in the series played in the first seven instalments by the late Paul Walker.
Walker, left, died during filming of Furious 7 in a tragic car crash and to finish the movie, CGI was used along with the help of his brothers Caleb and Cody; it was a long shoot and made the production a very tough one, but in the end it was a touching sendoff to Brian and Walker himself but it seems they want him back for the finale of the series.
So, two years away and it’ll be back to the roots after all the superhero stuff of the last few movies and it will have Brian back… so, there you go. I know you have thoughts and I wanna hear ’em all.
