It’s always a reason to celebrate when the members of The League of Gentlemen team up for a new project, especially if it’s the whole gang!
It’s been announced that The League, Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton and Reese Shearsmith have reunited with their fourth, non-acting member, Jeremy Dyson for a new BBC Radio play that will air this September.
Starring Gatiss, Pemberton and Shearsmith along with co-stars Monica Dolan and Goldie Crane, High Cockalorum is written by Dyson, and takes place in West Yorkshire in 1978 and tells the [true] story of a “touching, funny and unlikely encounter between a Hollywood superstar and a humble lad from Leeds thrown together by circumstance”.

According to the BBC, the play is “Celebrating Bradford City of Culture and commissioned as part of BBC Contains Strong Language Festival, Bradford based writer Jeremy Dyson’s original comedy drama set in West Yorkshire in 1978 is inspired by a true story.
“High Cockalorum tells of a touching, funny and unlikely encounter between a Hollywood superstar and a humble lad from Leeds thrown together by circumstance – a meditation on fame, success and what ultimately matters.”
True, it’s not The League, but having these guys all together for a new production is something to really be excited about.
High Cockalorum will be broadcast at 2:15pm on BBC Radio 4 on Thursday 18th September 2025.
