Remember, remember…
It looks like V is set to terrorise the establishment once more as HBO are developing a new V for Vedetta TV series based on Alan Moore and David Lloyd’s iconic graphic novel.
The series will be executive produced by the DCU’s James Gunn and Peter Safran and will be written by Somewhere Boy’s Pete Jackson and, should it happen, will join The Penguin and the upcoming Lanterns as a HBO/DC project.
The story is set in Britain in a dystopian, not-too-distant future in which the country is controlled by the fascistic Norsefire party. An anarchist named V, known for his distinctive Guy Fawkes mask, seeks to topple the government with the help of Evey Hammond, a young woman V rescued from the country’s secret police.
There’s no official start for the series yet, or air date, but while the 2006 movie adaptation gets better with every watch, there’s no denying that a V series on HBO with a similar pedigree to The Penguin [and not of the terrible Watchmen series a few years back, also based on an Alan Moore graphic novel] would be very welcome, indeed.
Thoughts? I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em all!
Join V en masse to celebrate the revolutionary legacy in one of the most powerful political action thrillers of the 21st century, starring Huho Weaving as V and Natalie Portman as Evey Hammond.
V for Vendetta is back in theaters on November 5, 2026.
