It looks like a new writer has joined the fray as a new Transformers movie gets ready to head off to Cybertron.
It looks like IT: Welcome to Derry’s Jason Fuchs has signed on to write the next movie in the (new) Transformers timeline, following up from 2023’s Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which (sort of) follows on from Travis Knight’s 2018 movie, Transformers: Bumblebee, which is not related to any of the other live-action movies, despite looking like it is and having a very confusing timeline.
Anyways, from my understanding, Fuchs’ movie is a sequel to Rise of the Beasts, but isn’t to be confused with Derek Connolly’s script, which is also a sequel to Rise of the Beasts but will set up the GI Joe/Transformers team-up movie also set up by, em, Rise of the Beasts.
In a recent interview, director of Rise of the Beasts, Steven Caple Jr, said spoke about his plans for the GI Joe/Transformers crossover movie, should he still be directing: “I still do have big plans for what that could be, but we’ll have to see. We’ll have to see what comes about it. I am not part of the next Transformers film, but it’s still in development and there’s still time, so you just never know. Yeah.”
It is also my understanding that there are other Transformers movies in development, but the Rise of the Beasts sequel and GI Joe crossover are currently the ones most likely to go into production first.
