Jackman hints he has no plans to stand down as Wolverine

With the MCU set to head to the X-Men universe soon, pulling the mutants into the main Marvel world, one of the questions being asked is, will Hugh Jackman still be playing Logan/Wolverine?

And the star seems to thing that, just like the joke make in Deadpool & Wolverine, he’s going to be doing it until he’s 90.

Maybe.

In a new interview, the star, when asked if he’d be suiting up again, said: “I’m 57. I’m doing it till I’m 90. So, you know… I’ll do a little time capsule for them.”

With a lot of rumours going around that he will return for Avengers: Doomsday later this year (SPOILER possibly fighting Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man no less! SPOILER END) and then Avengers: Secret Wars, not to mention the ever-present rumours that Ryan Reynolds has planned for Wolverine and Deadpool to have more adventures together, there’s no denying that the fans still want Jackman’s in the movies.

But, should he decide to walk away from the role, what advice has he for whoever picks up the role in the main MCU?

“I’m not going to say anything to whoever plays him,” Jackman says, “cause no one said anything to me, which I really am thrilled about. And I had not read the comics, so I was just coming to it fresh. And I learned a lot over the years.”

Going on, he adds: “Of course I’ve got my own take, but it must be melding in with me in some way. I hope someone just comes in and does whatever the f*** they want and makes it their own.”

While this is admirable, it’s hard to imagine that whoever picks up the Adamantium Gauntlet (so to speak) won’t be at least channeling a little bit of what Jackman did in the role.

And yes, we here at FTN HQ want it to be Henry Cavill too.

Thoughts? I know you have them and I wanna hear ’em all.

What?! Nick Frost just teased Spaced series 3! How’s that for a slice of fried gold?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
