Guillermo del Toro has told The Playlist that he is still determined to bring At the Mountains of Madness to the big screen.
The director has previously tried to bring the project to fruition without success but now plans on pitching it one last time to studios.
“I’m going to try it one more time,” he said. “Once more into the dark abyss. We’re gonna do a big presentation of the project again at the start of the year and see if any [studio’s] interested … Tom is still attached. I think it would be so fantastic to make it with him. He’s been such a great ally of the project.”
Del Toro had previously expressed concern that the plot for At the Mountains of Madness might be too similar to last summer’s Prometheus.
“I saw [Prometheus] finally,” he added. “Yes, there are things in common, but, you know, screw it. Lovecraft was there first.”
Meanwhile, del Toro’s next film, Pacific Rim, will be released on July 12.
