With the Potter-verse getting a little giddy over the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them movie trilogy, it looks like JK Rowling has decided to strike while the iron is hot and get some Potter attention again.
As a fan of the books – and some of the movies – I’m not against this.
Over at Pottermore, the JK Rowling’s Harry Potter experience website, the writer, under the name of Rita Skeeter, the famous Potter gossip columnist, has revisited the Potter characters years later and even hinted at more stories to come… on the site? As a new book? Or as nothing more than a tease… who knows? Well, apart from Rowling presumably.
So what new info have we learned from this latest Potter adventure?
POTENTIAL SPOILERS
Well, Harry, Ron and Hermione are in their 30s now. Oh and it’s based around the Quidditch World Cup which coincides with the Muggle World Cup going on right now.
The new story takes place in the Patagonian Desert where Dumbledore’s Army have reunited.
In it, Harry has started to go grey (haven’t we all?) but is still rocking the round glasses. Teasingly, he now has a cut/scar on his right cheek to rival the famous lightning strike on his forehead. He is still married to Ginny who is a reporter with the Daily Prophet.
Ron and Hermione are still with Harry and Ron is starting to go a little bald (aren’t we all?), he is also the co-manager of Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes with his brother George. Hermione is Deputy Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and is still on the rise.
Victor Krum , Neville Longbottom and Luna Lovegood all appear too.
However, most teasing of all, as mentioned at the start, Rita writes at the end of her article: “Harry Potter and his cohorts never claimed to be perfect! And for those who want to know exactly how imperfect they are, my new biography: Dumbledore’s Army: The Dark Side of the Demob will be available from Flourish and Blotts on July 31st.”
So, who’s up for more Potter books? Let’s see what happens at the end of the month…
