More big news f0r Stephen King fans as 2018 has a new book release in store…

Oh yes, on May 22nd this year we will have The Outsider – running at 576 pages – on bookshelves and, as is always the case with a new King book, we are giddy with excitement.

The author has released a number of fantastic books in recent memory with the likes of Joyland, the Hodges trilogy and Dr Sleep seeing King return to his former glory – in my humble opinion – so we are still really excited to see what he still has up his sleeve.

While the synopsis hints at an tale that is lacking in his signature supernatural tropes, we think back to the likes of Mr Mercedes, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption and The Body to remember that King doesn’t need ghosts and ghouls to tell a fantastic tale.

Check it out below:

An unspeakable crime. A confounding investigation. At a time when the King brand has never been stronger, he has delivered one of his most unsettling and compulsively readable stories.

An eleven-year-old boy’s violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City’s most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

As the investigation expands and horrifying answers begin to emerge, King’s propulsive story kicks into high gear, generating strong tension and almost unbearable suspense. Terry Maitland seems like a nice guy, but is he wearing another face?.”

When the answer comes, it will shock you as only Stephen King can.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
