Stephen King has an idea for a Jason Vorhees novel and we’re all here for that

June 20th, 2020 by Marc Comments

Another big, fun story for all you Jason Vorhees fans tonight.

So last week I reported that in Jason Vorhees is, in official canon, a Deadite from the Evil Dead series (here) and now it seems that the world’s greatest horror writer (of ALL time), Stephen King, has hinted that he has a great idea for a Friday the 13th movie starring Jason.

Taking to Twitter (below),  King wrote: “The best novel idea I never wrote (and probably never will) is I JASON, the first-person narrative of Jason Voohees, and his hellish fate: killed over and over again at Camp Crystal Lake. What a hellish, existential fate!”

I’ve been reading King’s books since I was 13 and I’m a massive fan of his, so the idea of him taking on a horror icon like Jason and Camp Crystal is, well, bloodcurdlingly exciting.

I can’t even begin to think what this might be but King, while he loves to get deep into what makes horror tick and its place in society, isn’t beyond a good scary fun romp – seriously, Needful Things is a riot! – so this could be the match made in heaven that we never knew we needed.

Will it happen? Nah, likely not… but a nerd can dream, can’t he?

Let me know your thoughts, gang.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
