Well, it was always going to happen when Disney bought Star Wars and Marvel, but man, this is, well, you decide.
Finally! Fans, thanks to EW, have their first look at the first-ever crossover between Marvel and Star Wars.
Although little is known the book, what we do know is it will be called Star Wars/Marvel: Hope Assembles and will be written by Clerks and Dogma’s Kevin Smith with art by David Marquez. Smith, as well as being a director, is no slouch when it comes to comics, having written his own Clerks comics as well as characters such as Batman, Daredevil and Green Arrow.

“Back in the early ‘80s, I had a subscription to Marvel’s Star Wars comics. And as fun as it was to follow the continuing adventures of Luke, Leia, and Han, I always wished that Spider-Man or Doctor Doom could cross over into their cinematic saga,” Smith told EW, “So when the opportunity arose to actually tell that story, nobody had to Force my hand! I’m ecstatic to be writing Hope Assembles for the 50th anniversary of Star Wars! Many thanks to Marvel Comics and Lucasfilm for trusting me to fly the Falcon and the Quinjet!”
The series will be five parts and takes place in the primary continuity of Marvel comics, Earth-616.
Figures like Chewbacca, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Princess Leia will join Earth-616 — the primary continuity in which most stories of Marvel Comics take place —and mingle with the likes of Captain America, Black Widow, Spider-Man, and the Hulk. Meanwhile, Doctor Doom and the Marvel rogue’s gallery will join the likes of Darth Vader and the Galactic Empire.
The book will launch in January 2007, marking the beginning of the 50th anniversary of Star Wars, which hit cinema screens for the first time in May 1977.
