According to Deadline, the remake of Gareth Evans’ The Raid: Redemption has found its director in Patrick Hughes (The Expendables 3). The script is from Brad Ingelsby (Out Of The Furnace).
The 2011 Indonesian action film centered on an elite DEA team trapped in a tenement run by a notorious drug lord, his assassins and personal army armed with machetes and machine guns. It gets ugly as they fight their way out.
Our course remake don’t always turn out as intended. The fact that Gareth Evans and his fight team are onboard the American remake, as least there is a better chance it will remain true to the spirit and action of the original film.
Meanwhile Gareth Evan’s The Raid 2: Berandal hits theaters on March 24th, 2014.
