First official look at Electro in Amazing Spider-Man 2

July 10th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher 1 Comment

On the cover of the new Entertainment Weekly Comic-Con Preview issue we have our first official look at Jaime Foxx as Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Like in the film he faces off with Spider-Man. I’m not sure I like it as it looks more like a mask than electricity to me. I’ll wait to see it on film. What do you guys think?

Also EW says that Andrew Garfield has made what is sure to become a  controversial suggestion about where they could possibly take Peter Parker in future installments of the franchise. They report that he recently sat down with producer Matt Tolmach to share his thoughts on Mary Jane and the relationship with Peter Parker:

“I was kind of joking, but kind of not joking about MJ. And I was like, ‘What if MJ is a dude?’ Why can’t we discover that Peter is exploring his sexuality? It’s hardly even groundbreaking!…So why can’t he be gay? Why can’t he be into boys?”

He’s given it a fair bit of thought because he even has an actor in mind:

“I’ve been obsessed with Michael B. Jordan since The Wire. He’s so charismatic and talented. It’d be even better—we’d have interracial bisexuality!”

EW went so far as to mention it to his director Marc Webb. His response was:

“Michael B. Jordan, I know.”

So amazing fans let us know what you think.

“In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, for Peter Parker, life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen, high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro, emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn, returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.”

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Shailene Woodley, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti, Chris Cooper, Felicity Jones and Sally Field.

The film is set to swing into theaters May 2nd, 2014.

The third film will be released on June 10, 2016, and the fourth on May 4, 2018.
