Gary Oldman in talks for Star Wars: Episode VII?

February 6th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Ever since a new Star Wars film was announced, we’ve heard many times that “everyone” has auditioned or is mentioned for a role. From Jessie Plemons to Michael B. Jordan to Zac Efron.

Almost every name in Hollywood, but very few of these rumors have come from the actors themselves. After all it seems that Saoirse Ronan may have lost a role by talking about it.

In a recent interview with Sky Movies, veteran actor Gary Oldman was asked if he had any interest in joining the new film, given he’s been in so many blockbuster franchises throughout his career:

“They’ve called, yeah. I’m more cynical about it (casting) now, I believe it when I’m on the plane home. You know, the deal isn’t done (until then). But yeah, they’ve inquired.”

Star Wars: Episode VII will be directed by J.J. Abrams from a script that he wrote with Lawrence Kasdan. The movie is rumored to focus on a new generation of heroes and could include appearances by Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford in older versions of their iconic characters from the original Star Wars trilogy. The film is expected to begin shooting in May of 2014 and will hit theaters on December 18, 2015.
