Leatherface isn’t the only legacy character returning for new Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel

March 24th, 2021 by Marc Comments

Ooooooh… in a cool bit of casting, it seems that one of the original characters is returning after almost 50 years.

Tejano director David Blue Garcia’s new movie is not a reboot, re-imagining or experimentation in gender-swapped characters but rather is a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper’s 1974 classic horror.

The movie will see horror icon Leatherface return as an older monster, of course, but will also see original end girl Sally Hardesty, above left, return to the cannibalistic nightmare in a plot that, so far, is being kept under wraps.

The role of Sally, originally played by Marilyn Burns, above right, in the original movie (she cameo’d in a couple of further movies but never as Sally), will be played my Mandy star Olwen Fouéré.

This movie will, as has become quite fashionable, ignore all the sequels, reboots and remakes and will return to the raw, dirty roots from which it came.

It seems that, following on from Jamie Lee Curtis’ Halloween return and, to a lesser extent, Linda Hamiliton’s recent Terminator return, Sally will likely return to finish what was started all those years ago when she and her friend stumbled into the definitive house of horror.

The movie has real talent behind it as, among the producers are The Evil Dead reboot’s Fede Alvarez and the original film’s co-writer Kim Henkel

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre stars Elise Fisher, Sarah Yarkin, Mark Burnham, Moe Dunford, Olwen Fouéré, Alice Krige, Jacob Latimore, Nell Hudson, Jessica Allain, Sam Douglas, William Hope and Jolyon Coy. The film arrives in theaters in 2021.
