According to Variety, Oscar-nominated screenwriter Steven Knight (Eastern Promises) has been tapped to write the sequel to Paramount’s World War Z, which starred Brad Pitt, who is expected to return. The Impossible‘s director J.A. Bayona is attached to helm the sequel.

Pitt will also again serve as producer on the project, which will expand on the world of the original. Directed by Marc Forster, World War Z was based on the novel by Max Brooks. At the box office, it managed to gross more than $540 million worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing movies of Brad Pitt’s career.

Most recently, Knight wrote and directed the critically acclaimed Locke starring Tom Hardy.
