The Yellow King Rules Kickstarter!

Inspired by Robert W. Chambers’ influential cycle of short stories, The Yellow King tabletop rpg pits the characters against the reality-altering horror of The King in Yellow. This suppressed play, once read, invites madness. Or a visit from its titular character, an alien ruler intent on invading and remolding our world into a colony of their planet, Carcosa. Four books, served up together in a beautiful slipcase, confront your players with an epic journey into reality horror:

Brought to you by an accomplished creative team at the award winning Pelgrane Press ( see here for example ) the project is already funded by over 400% most of the stretch goals have been hit and there are still 17 days left at the time of writing.

You rarely find a better deal than this on Kickstarter, get on it.

Pop Quiz:

“This is lost Carcosa and I am not afraid”

A certain TV show had this line in the finale of it’s first season.

Which show was it?

WHO ASKED FOR THIS?

A Game of Thrones Catan: Brotherhood of the Watch

Fantasy Flight Games are normally a good, if not great table top games company and putting one of the biggest board games in the world and one of the top TV IP’s together just makes sense.

However this is not just a game of thrones version of Settlers of Catan and that my friends is making me twitchy. They are adding in what amounts to a near full second game to the mix and this usually spells disaster. I could go into a big explanation but I’ll just demonstrate visually

Here’s what a standard Settlers of Catan game looks like:

And this is what FFG’s game looks like:

Looks far too complicated and the details released so far don’t help that impression. ( See here) but with a release timed for the winter holiday season this year many a tabletop gamer will be lumbered with this by unwitting friends and family.

Maybe I am wrong, maybe I’m being a purist but for right now I’m very wary of it.

If I get a chance to play test this I will post a review before Santa’s good intentions go wrong.

NIGHTMARES FROM DOWN UNDER!

While I was looking at The Yellow King I decided to peruse the other projects on Kickstarter and cam across this little beauty.

Put together by an American, a Canadian and a Swede in Australia this little game is literally the stuff of nightmares.

It’s gotten a great reaction and is already fully funded! There are also a couple of options to play test it yourself on the page.

They have set up fulfillment centers on most continents so shipping  costs won’t bite to hard.

Worth a look.
