WATCH: Patrick Stewart confims that was him playing [redacted] in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer

March 7th, 2022 by Marc Comments

During the very cool Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer we all thought we saw someone we knew, in the shape of, well, the back of the head of Charles Xavier AKA Professor X AKA actor Patrick Stewart.

We heard the voice, we saw the head, we knew that, at last, the X-Men were set for the MCU… but there was always that element of doubt.

After all, we know that Stewart was approached by Kevin Feige to appear in the MCU (here), previously saying:  “If we had not made Logan, then yes, I would probably be ready to get into that wheelchair one more time and be Charles Xavier. But Logan changed all that.”

Xavier has died twice in the X-Men universe, once coming back as a coma patient and then, in Logan, dying. Like, proper dying.

But yet, it seems that in the Doctor Strange trailer, below, at the 1:19 mark that he’s alive and well.

Well, now, thanks to the man himself, Patrick Stewart, we know it is him and to the happiness of Marvel fans everywhere, Professor X is coming to the MCU, although it may not be exactly how you think.

“I actually didn’t recognise my own voice, it sounded different,” Stewart says in the interview, above.

“Whether I had a cold or something at the time, I don’t know,” the actor said. “But I was astonished — and all they saw was the back of my shoulder and I think my earlobe, nothing else — that there would have been so many connections made. It pleased me.”

The idea that he’s still shocked at how much the fans notice is just so adorable… he really is such a treasure.

It looks like Professor X will be part of the Illuminati in the movie, a group of earth’s most intelligent and gifted individuals made up of the likes of Mr Fantastic, Black Panther, Ultimate Iron Man and Professor X, and in this movie it seems they may be made up of these individuals from all over the Multiverse, with fan theories on who will appear getting the fandom all in a tizzy (here).

Although, it has to be said, no matter who they get, they don’t get any bigger than Charles Xavier.

Thoughts?
