A big villain could be back for Star Wars Episode VII…

August 24th, 2014 by Marc Comments

See how we haven’t posted an image here? Well that’s because it would be very, very SPOILERIFIC. Possibly.

The good folk at Latino Review are claiming that two reliable sources have confirmed with them that a BIG villain from the previous Star Wars movies is back…

They are claiming that, once again, Emperor Palpatine is back pulling the strings in these new movies.

But here’s the Kicker, Ian McDiarmid won’t be revealing anything because this time around, and for the first time in the movies, he won’t be playing the character.

If this is true, does it mean we all be seeing a younger, rejuvenated Emperor like we saw in the Dark Empire comics from Darkhorse?

Or might he just look older or like a half-robot/half-man thing or perhaps just be totally unrecognisable? It would also answer the question everyone has about who exactly has been running the Empire in his absence.

Take this as a rumour until you hear more, but we can’t help feel there could be something to this… you don’t know the power of the Dark Side…

The cast for Episode VII includes Pip Anderson, Crystal Clarke, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the Saga Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.

Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing and John Williams returns as the composer. The movie opens worldwide on December 18th, 2015.

On another note, this image has been floating around the internet, claiming it’s how the Stormtroopers will look in the new episode. We can neither confirm nor deny this, nor can we say exactly where it originated… but we thought we’d bang it in here for you guys to look at. Thoughts?

UPDATE

FTN reader Daniel Georgiev immediately realised the image was a fake. Well done, sir.

He wrote: “The stormtrooper is indeed made by a fan. The body is the body of the Umbaran soldiers that were on the side of the Separatists in the fourth season of “The Clone Wars” (original in the image below). It is very good mashup…”

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
