While we knew quite a while ago that The Office star BJ Novak was to appear in Amazing Spider-man 2, we had no idea who he was playing… well, we know now thatnks to director – and Twitter tease/junkie Marc Webb.
Webb tweeted yesterday:

According to aintitcool: “A. Smythe is Alistair Smythe, son of Spencer, creator of the Spider-Slayer robots specifically designed to *ahem* slay Spider-Man.”
So we have yet another villain in these movies… however, we don’t know for sure if he’ll feature in a major way in the first sequel or may get held off for one of the later movies. Whether or not we’ll actually see the Spider-slayers (below) is unknown at this stage; Universe Building 101.
