Annie Potts thinks she’s back as Janine on Ghostbusters 2020

Oh, yes!

We had confirmation at Fanfest (here) last weekend that Sigourney Weaver, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Bill Murray had read the script for Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters III and were (likely) returning to the roles that I personally love them for.

But I couldn’t help feeling that, while this news is awesome, I also wanted Annie Potts’ Janine Melnitz, William Atherton’s Walter Peck and Rick Moranis’ Louis Tully (although Rick has retired from acting) back too.

And today we have news that at least one of them is likely back…

Annie Potts appeared on LA’s KTLA 5 morning news and when asked if she knew anything the movie, she said: “I have heard some things [and] If it’s true, what I’ve heard… Yeah, I think it’s gonna happen.”

Asked if she was set to appear she replied: “I think I will.”

The confirmed cast confirmed so far are Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard, The Haunting of Hill House’s Mckenna Grace and Gone Girl’s Carrie Coon who will play the family at the heart of the movie (details on them here).

Ghostbusters 2020 is written by Gil Kenan and Jason Reitman and will hit cinemas on July 10th, 2020

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
