Batgirl movie a ‘high priority’ at Warners/DC

We all remember that a couple of years ago Joss Whedon was sitting high at Warners with Justice League ready for release and his planned Batgirl movie ready to begin pre-production.

For the record, I was excited for a Whedon Batgirl…

But then Justice League turned out to be a disaster for Warners and Whedon and Warners soon parted ways.

But, it seems, after we reported on new names in the mix for the role (here), the movie and character is high on the list of must-film movies at Warners/DC.

While Wonder Woman is heading for her sequel next year and Birds of Prey (and The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is just around the corner, it looked like Suergirl was next on the list (as Cavill’s return as the Man of Steel looks more and more unlikely) but, no, according to Heroic Hollywood it’s Bargirl who is high priority.

Here’s what they say: “Batgirl is currently a big priority and the studio is even searching for a director for the project. Now, we don’t have any names as to who could direct Batgirl but this should be taken as good sign that Christina Hodson has delivered a fantastic script.”

Honestly, I would love to see Batgirl done properly and with Matt Reeves’ Batman movie filming next year and rumours of a Titans and Nightwing movie still floating around, this could be the beginning of a fully-realised Bat-family on the big screen.

Bring it on… just do it right, Warners.
