Benedict Wong cast in Doctor Strange as, em, Wong…

January 26th, 2016 by James Campbell Comments

The Doctor is in… 10 months from now… wow that joke didn’t work… anyway, Doctor Strange news, everyone!

While many fans of the character have loved basically every piece of news that has come from this film, one thing has been noticeably missing. This, of course, is Doctor Strange’s manservant/partner. However, recently it has come to light, that Benedict Wong has been cast in the role of, em, Wong.

For those who are unaware, Wong is one of the most important members of the Doctor’s supporting cast. Wong has been with Doctor Strange (see below) since he began training with The Ancient One. Since then he has served as his manservant, confidante and closest friend. He also serves as somewhat of a bodyguard for Strange when he leaves his body and visits the astral plane.

Overall, I like this piece of casting. Benedict Wong has gradually been developing a name for himself over the past few years, through projects like The Martian and Marco Polo. Overall, he seems like a good choice to take up the role of Wong… And no, the irony of his name was not lost on me.

My name is James and I am a long time fan of Movies, TV and Comics. I am currently a student, wrapping up my education at Aberystwyth University. I have an undergraduate degree in film and television and I’m working on my Masters in scriptwriting. My personal favourite comic character is the Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), and I view the film adaptation as one of the most horrifying experiences I have had in a movie theatre. As far as film and television go, I am usually willing to give any genre a try, as long as the project is well executed.
