Hold on to your spy-wear gang because it looks like the Black Widow movie is definitely a ‘go’ as details and rumours start coming thick and fast.
It seems that we can now report the movie is definitely happening as Red Sparrow and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy production designer Maria Djurkovic has signed on to work on the movie.
This is interesting as her other credits, including The Intimation Game, and The Snowman, would tend to lead us to believe the rumours we’re hearing that the movie will be set pre-Avengers day as Widow (Scarlett Johansson) is a trained spy and assassin. We’re thinking a cross between James Bond and Atomic Blonde… we’re also hoping it will have a space for the little seen Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye as the two of them have a major bond in the MCU.
“There were some plot points rumored by ThatHashtagShow that could see Nat before her days in SHIELD being hunted by the Russian government with ties to the Widow program, along with a tease that Sebastian Stan‘s Winter Soldier could be involved. However, we’ve seen leaked plot details early in development lead to rewrites, so while these are likely legit the project could change over the next year.”
The movie is likely to see release in 2020 and were hearing that Marvel are actively seeking a female director to helm. We’ve waited a long time for a Black Widow movie… it’s nice to know it’s happening.
