Forget who’s playing Shazam or Captain Marvel, the real role that’s on everyone’s mind is Squirrel Girl!
Anna Kendrick (above) recently said she thinks she should play the Marvel character in the MCU (here) and then Barb from Stranger Things, Anna Purser, threw her hat in the ring and even got a response of sorts from Marvel (here).
But now Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Civil War (and the upcoming Infinity War movies) co-directors Joe and Anthony Russo have hinted that they are aware – and supportive of – Kendrick in the role!
Speaking to Yahoo!, the duo said: “It would be perfect casting, and we’re huge Anna Kendrick fans,” Joe Russo said
Anthony Russo, however, tried to calm everything down before people started writing about it – ha! Good luck with that! – saying their “hands [are] full trying to tell the story we have with our preexisting characters”
But, he added, “That’s not to say we’re not going to introduce a new character.”
However, it seems likely he’s talking about Brie Larson as Captain Marvel.
Still, it’s interesting that the Russos – currently Marvel royalty – are talking about Kendrick as Squirrel Girl, isn’t it? In an MCU that has Howard the Duck, we reckon nothing is impossible.
