It occurred to be last night while watching The Martian with my family at home that pretty soon every actor will be associated with a comic book movie and now Anna Kendrick, it seems, wants some of that superhero goodness…

And it seems that the actress – and her family – know who she should play.

“My brother sent me a Squirrel Girl comic because he thinks I should [play her],” the actress told Net-A-Porter.

“I don’t know what Squirrel Girl does other than be half squirrel, but I could be half squirrel!”

Yes, she want to be Doreen Green AKA Squirrel Girl and, given the fan art below – we have no idea who did this, so if YOU do, please let us know – we’d definitely watch it. She’s adorable in that get up!

Squirrel Girl has been enjoying a lot of attention lately and, while we doubt she’s on Marvel’s must make list, we would certainly love seeing Kendrick in the role… a character with a big, bushy tale and super strength and, em, jumping? What’s not to love?

Are we delusional or could you see her – Kendrick or Squirrel Girl – in the MCU? Let us know…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
