Holy heck, things just got a lot more interesting on the Venom movie front (get caught up here).
So, we know Tom Hardy is starring as Eddie Brock/Venom in Sony’s Venom movie directed by Zombieland’s Ruben Fleischer for a Halloween 2018 release.
We also know that, if Sony head Amy Pascal is to be believed (here) it will actually belong to the MCU despite being made at Sony (we’re thinking it will be something similar to the Netflix shows in the MCU – there but not influencing the main stories).
And Pascal also said that Tom Holland’s Spider-man appearing is not off the table, in fact Spider-man director Jon Watts has stated that the mid and post credit scenes for Spider-man are important and worth sticking around for… and we’re wondering if there’s even a slim chance these scenes could hint at this Sony/Columbia Pictures and Disney partnership? Check out his Tweet below:

But now, getting to the main news, it’s just been confirmed that the villain in the Venom movie will be… wait for it… you know you’ve wanted this for a long time… yes, it’ll be Cletus Cassidy AKA Carnage!
It also seems that the studio is now focused on Kraven the Hunter and Mysterio movies too. Could this movie be doing what Amazing Spider-man 2 was originally doing before Andrew Garfield’s Spider-man franchise was scrapped and setting yup an Sinister Six movie?
Carnage had a dark past: as a child, he killed his grandmother and tried to murder his mother – he also tortured and killed his mother’s dog. After the latter, his mother then tried to kill Cletus and was apparently beaten to the brink of death by Kasady’s father, who received no defense from Kasady during the trial.
In the comics Kassidy/Carnage later became a serial killer and shared a cell with none other than Eddie Brock AKA Venom where the alien Venom suit left a part of itself – an offspring if you like – which bonded with Kassidy, creating a second alien villain, this one called Carnage.
If the confirmation of Carnage is true then we may see this all happen in the movie adaptation… and if it’s tied to the MCU? Well, where it goes from there is anyone’s guess…
