In the day’s biggest ‘what the…?’ story, it seems that not only in Sony’s Marvel Universe looking more and more like it’s definitely happening, but right out of the stables they’ve pulled two very exciting names.
Firstly, making the move from DC to Marvel, Tom Hardy – who played Bane in The Dark Knight Rises – will play Venom and his human alter ego, Eddie Brock.
The news, thanks to THR, is a big deal and on top of Hardy playing the anti-hero, it seems that Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer will be handling the helming duties.
The movie, which will be the beginning of a universe filled with Spider-man villains despite not featuring Spider-man himself (ol’ web head is off fighting bad guys in the MCU), is rumoured to be a pretty straight-faced R-Rated horror-edged superhero/anti-hero story.
Very little else is known about the project right now except that it is set for a October 5th, 2018 release and millions of fans are wondering how they can do Venom without having Spider-man involved.
What do you guys reckon?
