If ever there’s been a story that deserved to be done properly on the big screen, it’s Stephen King’s terrifying, coming of age horror/drama/existential tale of IT.
And, thankfully, True Detective’s Cary Fukunaga is doing just that. As we reported a while ago, the new adaptation is going to be a two-part movie (here) and it looks like he understands what the lynchpin of the movie is… Pennywise the clown.
Bloody Disgusting reader Lucca Cantisano shared pages from Brazilian newspaper O Globo and in it Fukunaga says: “This will be my first movie in the US and I’m still trying to find the perfect guy to play Pennywise.
“It’s really good to know Stephen [King] likes what we did. We changed names, dates and dynamics, but the spirit is similar to what he’d like to see in cinemas, I think.”
The pics on the page – and horribly cheerful gif below – is Tim Curry as Pennywise in the 1990s TV mini-series and, as flawed as it was, his Pennywise still terrifies the adults that we’ve become since watching it all those years ago.
But who is the man for the job this time out?
