Casting news: Emma Watson trying on glass slippers and Paul Betty set for Transcendence?

March 4th, 2013 by Marc Comments

After doing such a great job with Thor, we’re keen to see what Kenneth Brannagh has in store next and legendary cinematographer Wally Pfister is set for his directorial debut…

Yes, it seems that Belfast’s own Kenneth Brannagh is set to do a live-action take on Cinderella for Disney written by Chris Weitz and rumour is he’s looking for Hermione Granger herself, Emma Watson (above) for the job of trying on glass slippers. We here at FTN reckon this is a perfect, ahem, fit.

In other casting news, the legendary cinematographer Wally Pfister – Inception – is set to make his directorial debut in Transcendence, a sci-fi movie that will apparently see computers wising up and wondering if mankind is necessary anymore. Sounds familiar.

Well is seems that Paul Bettany, currently being heard in the Avengers universe as the voice of Jarvis, Tony Stark’s computer, has signed on alongside the already set to star Johnny Depp. No word on roles or specific plot points yet as it’s all being kept very hush hush at the minute.

We’ll all find out for sure when Warners release it on April 25th, 2014.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
