Actress Cecily Strong as talked about all the hate for Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot which she also is starring in and how the internet is a breeding ground for people to be nasty, especially when it comes to the haters of the feamle angle.

Hard to argue with her comments on the sexism that exists among the fans who feel lady Ghostbusters are a bad idea, although we have already voiced our opinion on this (here) and still feel that Sony and Feig are/were hiding behind the sexist remarks when, in fact, the worries from the REAL fans were actually at the news that it’s a reboot of the beloved franchise.

Anyway, you can read our link above if you want to hear all our thoughts on it, meanwhile, here’s Strong’s thoughts on the sexists idiots online: “They’ll go away. They’ll crawl back into their holes and die. Especially online — that’s where, like, all the creeps come out to scream, and everybody wants to be offended and it’s all just like, why even?

“I’m of the [opinion] that if you’re already someone that’s going to say something misogynistic online, I’m not interested in having a conversation with you. It bores me. The fact that it’s female leads, that has people going crazy? That’s nuts, and they look stupid in the end. They’ll do it to themselves. I don’t need to make them look any dumber than they are.”

And what about the most prominent male in the movie so far, Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth? The actress is clearly taken with the Ghostbusters’ new secretary: “I love him. He’s so funny… I was a little bit shocked by it, and I told him that. Only because I thought he was just an action guy, and then it’s like, oh you’re very funny. And he’s just a nice person.”

While we are softening in our anti-GB reboot stance, we still want to make it clear we have no issues with the cast or director… we just want it to be part of our much-beloved, already established franchise.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
