Charlie Cox has filmed on Spider-man 3 – Daredevil back?! And Kevin Feige talks about taking the Netflix heroes back into the MCU

We have been speculating for a while that Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock AKA Daredevil is set to arrive in the MCU following the split between Netflix and Marvel leaving Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist lingering in a limbo as they still technically belonged to Netflix.

However, the time has passed and the characters are now available for the MCU to bring them back into the fold and we’ve speculated for sometime that the first to come over would be Daredevil for Spider-man’s third movie (here).

But now it seems that our prayers and premonitions have been answered as new reports are that Cox has been on the set of the movie and is expected to play the character we all love from the Netflix shows. However, it could be a different version of the character as we know the third Spidey movie starring Tom Holland will open the multiverse up wide with stars such as Anthony Molina and Jamie Fox returning from previous Spider-man movies before he came home to the MCU. Plus, since Benedict Cumberbatch is appearing as Doctor Strange, anything could happen.

Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige said: “It’s surreal to me that we’re talking about a Spider-Man 3. I worked on a movie called ‘Spider-Man 3’ many years ago [so] this, clearly, the shorthand of calling it ‘Spider-Man 3’ now, it’s fine. We call it ‘Homecoming 3.'”

However, Feige has been teasing the arrival of the Netflix heroes in the MCU for a little while now, so really we shouldn’t be so surprised.

At the recent WandaVision press day, Feige was asked about the characters coming over to the MCU again: “Well, certainly you’ve seen what we announced at Comic-Con a year and half ago and on Disney Investor Day a few weeks ago, so that’s our focus,” Feige said,

“But I’ve been at Marvel long enough to never say never about anything.”

“Everything is on the board,” he concluded: “That’s one of the fun things about the comics is that characters would appear and disappear and come and go. All of it is inspiration for the future. There are some great characters and actors from those shows.”

And last year Cox, a self-confessed comic book nerd said of potentially returning as Daredevil: “I had a great time. I’m so grateful I got to play that character as long as I did. Of course, I’d love to keep going. I’d love to be involved with it.”

He added: “As a fan of the Marvel movies, I’ve loved the little stuff where they pop up here and there but because we were on Netflix, we weren’t able to do as much for legal reasons… but I love the idea of Jessica and Matt showing up in the background or Matt as a lawyer advising Peter Parker. That’d be really, really cool.”

Which is really odd because we have speculated that the ending of Spider-man: Far From Home which saw Peter Parker’s identity not only revealed but accusations of him being a murderer would result in him needing an attorney-at-law… which is exactly how Matt Murdock could help.

But, speaking of Jessica Jones and the others, we’re hearing rumours that Kristen Ritter could be set to bring Jessica Jones back to the MCU too with an appearance teased for the She-Hulk series starring Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters AKA She-Hulk. If this is true then there’s no arguing that the MCU is really bringing everything back home and, well, it’s all a bit amazing, really.

Getting back to Spider-man 3, Feige has addressed all the massive rumours and speculation about the movie (get a taste of those here) and had this to say: “I’ve read some things. I’m not sure I’ve read all things… the fun thing about online speculation when it comes to our stuff is how sometimes it couldn’t be more off the mark and sometimes it’s shockingly close, and that’s held true for the last few years. But saying which is which would take all the fun out of everything.”

Oooooooh Feige, you tease!
