Exciting news if, like me, you’re a fan of the Extraction movies, as star Chris Hemsworth has confirmed that the third movie has started filming.
The actor confirmed the news by sharing images on social media, below, of himself as Tyler Rake, Idris Elba as Alcott and Golshifteh Farahani as Nik Khan.
I have to admit, I only watched the first two movies within the last year, but I absolutely loved them and I’ve been waiting for this news.
Tidbit:
An Extraction TV series is in development from The Walking Dead’s Glen Mazzarro, called Mercenary.
Set in the high-octane world of ‘Extraction,’ this action thriller follows a mercenary (Omar Sy) as he navigates a dangerous mission to rescue hostages in Libya. Trapped between warring factions and ruthless killers, the series delves into the emotional struggles of conflicted and flawed characters, each facing trauma, betrayal, and life-or-death choices
There’s no release date on the Netflix series as of yet.
Returning director Sam Hargrave said: “Our goal has always been to push the boundaries of action filmmaking, and with Extraction 3, we’re taking our biggest swing yet.”
While, on the surface, these are generic action movies, the movies are actually based on a graphic novel called Ciudad by Ande Parks and the choreography and photography set them apart with a brutal style that is unlike the vast majority of action movies and Hemsworth, full credit, is pretty damned solid in the lead. As for Alba’s role, it’s hard to know as his appearance at the end of the second movie is brief, but I’d say he’ll be a major part of the third movie.
No release date as of yet, but I’d imagine 2027 at the earliest at this point.
