Well, they did it with 10 Cloverfield Lane, so we shouldn’t be too surprised that they’ve done it again…
Yes, the third Cloverfield movie lands early next year and it’s God Particle.
Well, JJ Abrams and his Bad Robot company have been producing a sic-fi movie called God Particle which is due next February and now it’s looking like it’s actually Cloverfield 3.
The movie stars David Oyelowo, Gugu Mbatha Raw, John Krasinski, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris O’Dowd, Ziyi Zhang and Daniel Brühl and is said to revolve around an American space station that, after an accident with a particle accelerator, suddenly finds that Earth has vanished altogether. Things get stranger when they then they pick up traces of another space station nearby.
Like Cloverfield Lane. it’s said to be a ‘spiritual sequel’ and we’re still not really sure what that means.
Is this actually one big universe? Or are these a Twilight Zone type affair where all the stories standalone? Personally I like both ideas but would love if the three movies are part of a much bigger picture…
But if you’re surprised at the news, don’t feel too bad, the lead actress was too.
Screencrush are reporting that actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw had no idea she was now part of a shared universe: “I actually have no idea. That is news to me. When I did the project it was a total standalone sci-fi, space thriller. So I couldn’t tell you how it’s connected. I don’t know if that’s just a rumour.”
We’re guessing there’s a chance she’s not allowed to confirm anything or, like 10 Cloverfield Lane, the movie is so far removed she genuinely didn’t know.
One thing is for sure, the people involved make us really excited for this one and the Cloverfield connection even more so.
We’re also hearing rumours that we may be set for a Cloverfield movie every year from Paramount. Oh, and we’d nearly bet the movie’s God Particle title will change before release.
Let us know what you all think, folks.
