Dammit! Howard the Duck was almost in Avengers: Infinity War!

August 28th, 2018 by Marc Comments

It’s weird but one of the things that got a lot of fan excited was the appearance of Howard the Duck in the mid-credits scene in Guardians of the Galaxy as it demonstrated just how massive the MCU had become.

But yet, when he appeared, the fandom went giddy.

So giddy in fact, that it seems Howard almost made it into Avengers: Infinity War.

In a recent interview about the movie co-directors Anthony Russo revealed that “Howard the Duck was in one draft of the script”.

“Howard the Duck actually had a really good scene… we were going to cameo with Ken Jeong, with Howard the Duck. That was a much-beloved scene by us but it just didn’t end up fitting at all.”

Co-director Joe Russo added: “Yeah, it was [Peter] Quill trying to track down some information from Howard the Duck on some outlier planet and interrupting him during a poker game.”

Dammit! A poker game with Quill, Howard the Duck… and Community star Ken Jeong?! That would have been crazier than a chocolate rhino!

But, alas, it wasn’t to be… but it seems that Howard is active in the MCU still so we’d not rule out seeing him at some stage int he future. In the next Thor movie perhaps or Guardians Vol 3 (if it ever happens)?

Thoughts?

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Infinity War stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Bettany, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Tom Hiddleston and Josh Brolin.
