Dave Bautista gets vocal about him playing Drax again after the firing of James Gunn…

August 7th, 2018 by Marc Comments

It looks like the whole James Gunn debacle could have more ramifications…

Actor Dave Bautista, Drax in the MCU, has become rather vocal about his support for Gunn which, of course, is admirable, but it seems that he’s prepared to put his own future in the MCU on the line for the director.

So it all started on Sunday when Bautista said he would make the third movie but only because he was contracted to:

But now Bautista has been pushing the issue even more saying that, if Disney don’t go ahead with the script that Gunn turned in to Disney before his firing, he’ll quit:

“Nobody’s defending his tweets, but this was a smear campaign on a good man,” Bautista said.

“I spoke to Chris Pratt the day after it happened and he’s a bit religious so he wanted time to pray and figure it out, but I was more like: f*ck this. This is bullshit. James is one of the kindest, most decent people I’ve met.”

Bautista goes on to say that if Disney decide to move a different direction with the Guardians then he’ll be asking to leave: “Where I’m at right now is that if [Marvel] don’t use that script, then I’m going to ask them to release me from my contract, cut me out or recast me.

“I’d be doing James a disservice if I didn’t.”

So there you have it… honestly, at this stage it wouldn’t surprise us if we never saw Drax in the MCU again. We’re guessing Disney won’t stand for Bautista being this vocal… honestly, we like Drax and we want to see him in the MCU again but we think this could very easily be the end of his galaxy travels.

Thoughts?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
