Dave Bautista shares funny story about the time he told DC/Warners they need to cast him as Bane

It looks like Marvel star Dave Bautista has his heart set on a DC character… or two.

At the weekend’s JusticeCon event (bottom) the Guardian of the Galaxy star, who is getting ready for the release of Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead on Netflix, revealed that not only does he have a favourite DC villain he wants to play, he actually went straight to Warner Brothers to tell them.

And yes, if you guessed Bane, you’d be spot on.

Asked who he’d like to play in a DC movie, he immediately answered: “Oh, it would be Bane all day long.

“I’ve made no secret about this. I want to play Bane so bad I went to Warner Bros., had an appointment with them, had an appointment with DC, walked in the door and said: ‘I want to play Bane. I’m not kidding.’

“They were a little like ‘Woah, we’re not even casting Bane’. I was like ‘I don’t care, I’m playing him’.”

However, a tweet, below, he has added to the story, saying he was not really entertained at all: “I wasn’t joking. But in all honesty, they did have a good giggle and show me the exit. At least I gave it a shot.”

The image of a man-mountain like Bautista, left, storming DC/Warner and demanding he play a character they aren’t even looking to bring back yet before being marched out strikes me as pretty funny and, as he said, at least he gave it a shot, and you have to respect that.

Interestingly, Bautista also mentioned Lobo in characters he’d like to bring to life from the DC universe… now, that, I could see for sure.

Thoughts? Let me hear them…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
