Any DC fan will tell you that, perhaps even more so than the live-action movies, the stories thrive in the animated world.
And, with them just recently rebooting the animated universe with Man of Tomorrow and the upcoming Long Halloween Parts I and II, It looks like they have a very big story coming soon.
The animated universe got very dark with last year’s Justice League: Apokolips War but it’s set to get much darker with Injustice: Gods Among Us.
The movie was revealed in a press release for Batman: The Long Halloween Part II which listed a trailer for an Injustice animated movie.
This is news that had so far gone unannounced and is something of a surprise for sure.
The Injustice games and comics see an alternate dimension Superman being tricked into killing a pregnant Lois Lane – who he is married to – by the Joker which sees Superman ruling the world like a tyrant. This results in the heroes from the other DC universes crossing over to stop the tyranny and save the world from a blind-angry Man of Steel.
It’s a dark, bloody tale that is a riveting read and a fun beat ’em up game, so an animated movie could be top-notch.
And yes, there’s a lot of what Zack Snyder had planned for Justice League in there.
Anyway, no word on when we’ll see the movie hit or if it’ll be a multi-part release (I hope it is) but if there’s a trailer, it’s a good bet we’ll see it this year.
Let me know your thoughts, gang.
