Big news from the world of DC movies as we have a writer for the Zatanna movie.
Filmmaker Emerald Fennell, who brought us the really rather superb Promising Young Woman, will bring the character to life at Warners and Bad Robot with DC Films President Walter Hamada overseeing the project.
For the record, Fennell is an actress too and plays Camilla Parker Bowles in The Crown
We speculated a few weeks back that young actress Rachel Zegler, who has been cast in Shazam! Fury of the Gods in a mysterious role might be playing Zatanna (here) and, on the back of this news, we wonder if we may still be on to something.
We also know that HBO Max and JJ Abrams are developing a Justice League Dark universe including TV shows and movies featuring Constantine, Swamp Thing and Zatanna, so now we’re wondering if this movie may kick off the JLD world.
In the comics Zatanna is daughter of magician Zatara and is romantically linked to John Constantine oh, and she’s a master (mistress?) of magic.
This is pretty exciting news as Zatanna is a character we have hoped to see for a long time… let’s hope it delivers.
