Director says she wants a good script as Sony’s Spider-verse stumbles with Silver and Black’s release date pulled

Oh.

So, we’ve commented many times on Sony’s Spider-man cinematic universe that has everything in it but Spider-man, with Venom hitting in October, the next scheduled movie was Silver And Black, featuring Silver Sable and Black Cat.

The movie was set to arrive on February 8th next year, but with the director, Gina Prince-Bythewood stating recently“It all starts with the script. You gotta have a great script so we want to make sure that’s right before we jump in,” we’d be lying if we said that sounded encouraging, given that, among others, Thor: Ragnarok’s Chris Yost and Westworld’s Lisa Joy already had a stab at it.

The director added: “With Silver and Black, when you’re doing a film of that magnitude, it’s gotta be right. And if it’s not right, we actually collectively decided to go back to the drawing board and start over. That’s gonna take time. So obviously, I’d love to be shooting right now, but to be shooting something that I know is not as good as it can be, I’m not the type that wants to shoot something you’re rewriting, as you’re shooting. So, we have to get the script right, and I’m okay to wait. I may be shooting something before that, but it really is just get the script right before we go on that journey.”

And now the movie has been listed as ‘Undated’ on Sony’s future movie scheduling.

Does this mean the movie won’t happen? No, but it certainly means Sony is having trouble getting it moving and with others planned down the line, including Kraven The Hunter, Mysterio and others, we’e wondering if this universe is doomed to fail already… can we just give all these characters back to Marvel please? Jeez…
