Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson shared an image via Twitter on Monday from the graphic novel Doctor Strange: Into Shamballa.

Created by J.M. DeMatteis and Dan Green, Into Shamballa was published in 1986. The story sees Strange sent on a mission by the Lords of Shamballa to take mankind spiritual Golden Age, but most of Earth’s population will have to die first. Strange has to decide which is the greater outcome…
Derrickson recently posted images of the Infinity Gauntlet too, saying he wanted to tie Doctor Strange into the greater cosmic events of the Marvel movies. Is Derrickson just fond of Green’s work or is he hinting what the story of the movie will be?
Personally, I would speculate that the first Doctor Strange movie is likely to be an origin story, but Into Shamballa could make a good follow-up…
Doctor Strange opens in theaters November 6, 2016.
