Dr. Selvig back for Avengers Age of Ultron

August 18th, 2014 by Marc Comments

If there’s one Marvel character we’d love to see strip off it has to be Black Widow, right?

Well fanboy dreams of seeing her in a two piece are still limited to Google searches, as the only character so far to appear sans clothing in the MCU is… Thor’s Dr. Erik Selvig.  Nice.  During an interview with Total Film, actor Stellan Skarsgard talked about his contract with Marvel Studios, his characters return in the Avengers sequel, and shedding his garments…

“You sign on for at least five films, I think. Or I did. I’m going to do my fourth. I’m going to be in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, a small appearance. It’s something really nice. Even if it’s owned by Disney now, it’s really run by four or five people, and they know exactly what they’re doing. I like working with them because if I have a problem with the scene, I have Kevin Feige’s number. I can call the head of the studio. You can’t do that when you work on a normal Disney film or with Warner Bros or Paramount.”

And after his appearance in Thor The Dark World, in which his character lost his mind and ran around starkers, it seems Marvel are wanting more nudity in Age of Ultron… “Yeah, I was naked again. They called my agent and said, ‘Do you think Stellan will mind being naked?’ My agent laughed his head off. Yeah, I almost insist! Sometimes with a contract you get a nudity clause, which is fantastic. It’s supposed to protect me from having my genitals exploited, which I doubt anybody would make a dime on.”

As far as his role in the new movie, it seems that the good Doctor will be called upon to offer some key exposition. “First of all, I don’t know what I’m allowed to say. But usually they call me in if they need something explained. There’s a lot of explanations to do when it comes to that universe.”

Avengers:  Age of Ultron hits theatres next May.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
