It looks like Alita: Battle Angel, the movie that has won the hearts of so many despite not performing terribly well, was planned as a trilogy and it also seems it’s not entirely out of the question.
The movie, like so many in recent times, has shown the divide between fans and critics – I could go into why this is, but I really don’t want to get knee-deep in that right now – and while the reviews were luke warm, the audiences really liked it.
Personally, I loved it a lot and make no secret of it.
Now Econotimes are reporting that both writer/producer James Cameron and director Robert Rodriguez are still hoping to not only get the second movie made, but want to go all the way to an Alura trilogy, saying “there is still hope that overwhelming support can lead to an “Alita: Battle Angel 2”.
James Cameron actually sent up to 600 pages of script regarding “Alita: Battle Angel 2” to Robert Rodriguez. This shows just how committed the filmmaker is to this particular property.
Reading between the lines, it really does seem that home sales could be the defining barometer when it comes to seeing gAlita return, but it’s nice to know that the dream – with the fans and the film-makers – is to have the Battle Angel back on the big screen in 2022.
Here’s hoping… keep the dream alive, folks.
