Who would've thought Dave Chapelle would one day be the funniest man on earth?

DreamWorks is looking to tap into the current popularity of the bow and arrow, by making yet another movie adaptation of Robin Hood called Merry Men. The fairy tale genre is in with Hollywood right now: Oz the Great and Powerful, Jack The Giant Slayer, Hansel and Gretel, Snow White even Cinderella is getting a chance.

So what’s so special about this take on a popular folk hero? Deadline reports that it’s going to be a big tent pole re-imagining of the legend, but the twist is it will involve a “high-concept revenge angle that tonally is reminiscent of The Dirty Dozen and Ocean’s Eleven.” This is an ensemble piece centered on the supporting characters Little John, Friar Tuck, Maid Marian and Will Scarlet. It sounds kind of cool. Apparently the studio liked the pitch so much that they made a mid-six figure against seven figure deal for the idea.

Hey what do I know?

Brad Ingelsby (Out of the Furnace) is set to pen the script, and Act of Valor co-director Scott Waugh, will direct. He’s also currently developing Need For Speed for DreamWorks at the moment, so I guess they really like his work.

What do you guys think about another Robin Hood movie?
