We reported last night that the Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them movie franchise will no longer be the previously reported trilogy but will not be five movies according to the creator, JK Rowling.
And now it seems that we’ll be seeing an overlap with the Harry Potter story, despite being set decades earlier.
During a live Q&A in London last night, director David Yates said that, while not in the movie, Hogwarts Headmaster Albus Dumbledore will be mentioned in a conversation between Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and Percival Graves (Colin Farrell): “We do mention Dumbledore in this movie,” he said.
“He features a little bit in a wonderful scene between Colin [Farrell] and Eddie [Redmayne].”
He’ll not be the only familiar name as Grindelwald, a villainous character who was linked to dumbledore in the last potter novel, will be a big background character this time as Fantastic Beasts will focus on Grindelwald at the height of his powers and trying to get rid of Muggles: “He’s going to become a much more prominent part of the stories going forward,” Yates said.
So there you have it; we’re going to put all our cards on the table and say we’d bet we’ll see both these men in the movies moving forward…
What say you all? Would you like to see a new actor playing Dumbledore? Who? Let us know your thoughts…
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hits theaters Nov. 18.
