Dune, The Batman, Flash, Black Adam, Shazam 2, Jurassic World 3 all pushed back as Regal/Cineworld cinemas close indefinitely

Honestly, this year can eat a d#@k!

Bad news tonight for movie and cinema as not only have there been more movie delays but cinema itself has suffered a massive blow.

When it was announced last week that James Bond No Time to Die was pushed back to Easter 2021 everyone buckled down as we knew that, thanks to that damned virus, more disruption was coming… and we were very right, indeed.

Warner Bros has delayed four DC movies, The Batman, The Flash, Black Adam and Shazam 2, but interestingly has still kept Wonder Woman 1984 in its December slot.

On top of this, they pushed Dune back almost a full year to October 1st, 2021.

However, it’s not all terrible news as they pulled The Matrix 4 forward so it will now release on December 22nd, 2021 rather than April 1st, 2022.

As for the core DC content, well, that landscape looks like this now: The Batman will arrive on March 4th, 2022. The Flash moves from June 3rd, 2022 to November 4th, 2022. Shazam 2: Fury of the Gods will now open on June 2nd, 2023 and, worryingly, Black Adam, originally set for December 22nd, 2021, has been removed from the schedule… this likely doesn’t mean anything bad but just that a release date has yet to be announced.

DC still has  two yet-to-be-announced movies set for on June 3rd and August 5th, 2022.

UPDATE:

As well as all this, Universal has also pushed back Jurassic World: Dominion a full year from summer 2021 to June 10th, 2022, with writer/director Colin Trevorrow tweeting, saying: “we can’t wait to share with the world. Even though we’ll have to wait a bit longer, it will all be worth it.”

UPDATE ENDS

This all comes amidst the news that Cineworld announced they are closing all their Regal Cinemas in the US indefinitely and all their Cineworlds in the UK.

I don’t know what to say, folks. There’s a lot of heartache in this report and I’m sorry for that but all I can say os stay strong, stay safe and I’ll see you all in the cinema when this damned virus is just a distant, ugly memory.
