Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson fighting to get the Snyderverse reinstated in the DC multiverse?

April 16th, 2021 by Marc Comments

We have written much recently about the Snyderverse ever since the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League on HBO Max last month.

We have written why we believe it will happen and Snyder’s vision for the DC Universe will continue (here) and also why DC/Warners seem intent on not allowing it to happen (here), however, it seems there may be bigger voices than ours screaming in favour is Snyder’s vision.

Currently a week into filming Black Adam, it seems that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, is getting behind Snyder’s vision and wants his version of the DCEU continued, so Black Adam will be part of the same world as Ben Affleck’s Batman and, more importantly, Henry Cavill’s Superman.

Now, we know that the current run of DC movies are arguably already a continuation of Snyder’s universe with Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman both set for further installments in their franchises, but there’s no arguing that the universe kicked off by Snyder is being gradually thinned out, with Ben Affleck’s Batman soon to be replaced by Robert Pattinson and word being that Warners are done with Henry Cavill as Superman and, instead, are looking to recast, this time putting a black actor in the cape (here).

But, word is this isn’t sitting well with Johnson who’s agent (and ex-wife) is also representing Cavill and the duo have teased in the past, a meeting/battle between Black Adam and Superman (here).

And look, Johnson has been fighting for 14 years to get this Black Adam movie made and is the biggest star on the planet right now (with Presidential hopes in the future, reportedly), so you’d have to imagine that if he’s shouting at Warners, they’re listening.

Anyway, it’s all speculation at this stage, but we know Johnson and Cavill go back a long time and both have wanted this for years, so I can’t help feeling that, in this case, there’s no smoke without fire.

Let me know what you all think…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
