Well, here’s a bit of news that I have every hope will be received with warmth and no fanaticism at all.
We learned the MCU’s Fantastic Four casting in February (here) consisting of Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby is Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn is Johnny Storm and Ebon Moss-Bachrach is Ben Grimm and now we have another key piece of casting as Ozark’s breakout star Julia Garner has been cast as Silver Surfer.
Whhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaatttttttttttttttttttttttttttt?????????????????????
Well, sort of.
Garner, left, will play Shalla-Bal, a version of Silver Surfer from the comics that is not Norrin Radd, the Surfer we are all most familiar with, in fact, Shalla-Bal is Radd’s lover in the comics and raises an interesting question; you see, word is that in the movie, we will meet the Fantastic Four in another dimension or corner of the multiverse and they will already have their kids and be established for a while, just not in the MCU – and this means that it’s entirely possible that Garner’s Silver Surfer is not the MCU’s Surfer and that Norrin Radd could still appear down the line.
So, thoughts on Garner’s casting? Do you think she’ll be the MCU Surfer or is this a misdirect? Whatever the outcome, it certainly seems to point to Galactus being a presence in the movie and the wider MCU in future.
